What does Qara mean?
Qara means leather in Quechua, the language of the Incas that is still spoken by indigenous groups throughout the Andes today.
Why Argentinean leather?
The Argentinean leather industry dates back to the Incas. Argentine cowhides are tanned in what can be a largely manual process, resulting in unique individual leathers where no two products are exactly alike. Qara artisans sort and select only the best-tanned hides to use for our products.
My Qara bag got wet or stained. What should I do?
Qara uses a number of different high-quality skins that require special care. Please see About the Leather and click on individual leather swatches for cleaning and care instructions.
Where can I buy Qara products?
Hop on a plane and come down to Buenos Aires. If you can´t fit that into your schedule, you can buy online!
Where does Qara ship its goods and how much does it cost?
Qara ships bags directly from our workshop in Buenos Aires. All products are thoroughly inspected before they are shipped. To make life easier for our customers, we absorb most of the shipping costs, charging you between $20 and $60 depending on the size of your purchase. Unfortunately, because we ship internationally it is impossible for us to offer express shipping.
Currently, our shipping prices are quoted to the U.S. and Canada. If you live outside of one of these countries please email us to make a purchase.
Oh no!! My package looks as though it has been opened! What happened?
Because products are sent internationally, they pass through customs and are inspected by customs agents, who sometimes open the box and protective bag to verify the contents of the package. There is no reason for concern if your package looks as though it has been opened; rest assured that customs agents are doing their job. However, if the product has been damaged during shipping, please contact us immediately at info@qara.com with your order information.
How long before I receive my order?
Typically, products are shipped from our workshop within ten days of purchase and arrive five to seven days after shipment. Products are occasionally delayed in customs, while customs agents try on and admire your bag.
Does Qara offer express shipping?
Qara does not offer express shipping because all of our products must pass through customs in Buenos Aires and the port of entry, making it difficult for us to expedite arrival. However, we might be able to send out your shipment early if you call and beg. In Spanish. And Quechua.
What is Qara’s return policy?
Products may be returned unused, in perfect condition, within 14 days of arrival. We will only refund shipping costs if the reason for the return is a manufacturing or shipping error. If the reason for the return is anything except a manufacturing or shipping error, we will refund the full price of the product, minus SHIPPING COSTS and IMPORT TARIFFS originally paid by Qara when the package was shipped from Argentina. You must ship the product back to our warehouse in the US at your own cost, traceable and insured by a secured carrier (we recommend USPS, FedEx and UPS).
We reserve the right to reject returns if they do not comply with the policy as stated above.
We have a strict return policy only because it is very difficult for us to recover products once they have been shipped. We believe with all of our artisanal spirit that you will love your new bag.
