Qara takes leather goods one massive leap beyond the boundaries of contemporary luxury. Fusing the casual allure of Buenos Aires and the innovative functionality of New York style, Qara introduces a fresh alternative for customers who expect more from their luxury goods and the companies that produce them.

The name Qara (“leather” in Quechua) highlights Argentina’s longstanding tradition of leather-working which predates the Columbian period and has been perfected over the centuries. With such a wealth of experience, we wouldn’t dream of mass producing our goods. In our own workshop, where during breaks employees can be seen receiving massages or twisted in esoteric yoga positions, highly-skilled artisans handcraft our breathtaking products. We use superior-quality materials including hand-forged 100% alpaca or bronze nailhead hardware, and always take care to select our hides individually. All of this is done in order to bring you an excellent product that will remain fashionable through the decades and last a lifetime – or as long as you want it to!

In December 2006, we opened our first retail location in Palermo SoHo, Buenos Aires' boutique shopping district.  The store, a renovated Argentine-style two room house built in 1914, uses sustainable architecture featuring 20th century wrought iron doors, striking floorboards that were once boat planks, and antique décor collected from around the country.

We invite you to join us on our journey and appreciate your comments and support.

Qara
